Being able to auto-fill passwords in a phone app is darned handy when it works but I have low expectations about that. Looking up passwords on a phone is helpful.At the least it needs to be convenient to copy and paste, either from a right-click menu or from the extension icon in the upper right. Is this a false warning? Is character.ai somehow gaining access to LastPass/my master password in some way? Or is it possible there's something more nefarious going on, such as a keylogger or similar malware on my machine (though that still doesn't explain it, as I have not entered my master password anywhere recently)? I did not enter it (or any string of text like it) in my conversations with the bot, I did not enter it in any account login on character.ai (I do not have an account on that website), and I did not enter my master password anywhere any time today, or recently for that matter. I know for a fact that I did not enter my master password on character.ai.
Shortly after I got back to my PC, I received a warning notification from the LastPass Firefox extension. I then went to run errands for a couple hours and left my PC running (though it entered sleep mode after an hour). I played with it for a few minutes, exchanged a couple of sentences back and forth with the bot, then got bored and closed the website. Hoping you can help make sense of this situation, as I'm unable to find anything similar to this online.Įarlier today I visited the site character.ai for the first time to test out a character a friend made.
